The La Fortuna Food Scene
La Fortuna is one of the most popular towns in Costa Rica and is only getting busier, the demand for top quality restaurants is high! We have inclued some out our favourites places to eat!

The most popular Costa Rican food would be their breakfasts and lunches. Gallo Pinto is a country staple, as well as their Caribbean chicken, Rice and Bean Chifrijo and others.

There are a selection of bakeries and coffee shops that serve lunch and dinner. From croissants to ciabatta sandwiches, these bakeries are always a good choice for something quick or light.

There is a wide range of International cuisine in Manuel Antonio. From Asian to Italian, all the international favourites have a place in the town center.

Costa Rica is famous for its chocolate, so it's hard to stay away from desert. From chain ice cream spots to the handmade cakes with local chocolate, there's a spot for your sweet tooth here!

Don Rufino
Cuisine: Contemporary / International with Costa Rican influence — considered one of the top high-quality restaurants in La Fortuna.

Restaurante La Caribeña
Cuisine: Latin American / Costa Rican / Caribbean — mix of typical local dishes, seafood and Caribbean flavors; good for lunch or dinner with a relaxed vibe.

Mi Tierrita
Cuisine: Local Costa Rican — Walking distance from the villa, this restaurant has great quality of food with local ingredients.

Travesía
Cuisine: Latin American / International — known for mixed grills, ceviches, tuna tartar and creative dishes.
Hours: Approx. 12:00 pm–9:00 pm (Tue–Sun)

Pollo Fortuneño
Cuisine: Costa Rican / BBQ / Rotisserie chicken — popular for grilled chicken, local dishes, good service and value.
Hours: Approx. 11:00 am–9:30 pm daily

La Fonda 506
Cuisine: Latin American / Costa Rican / International — mix of typical local dishes, seafood and international flavors; good for lunch or dinner with a relaxed vibe.
Hours: Around 12:00 pm–11:00 pm daily

Mirador Arenal Steakhouse
Cuisine: Steakhouse / Costa Rican — specializes in quality meat cuts/grill, steaks, also offers seafood, pasta, traditional dishes. Has nice volcano-view setting.
Hours: 12:00 pm–10:00 pm (closed on Thursdays)

Restaurante La Parada
Cuisine: Specializes in traditional Costa Rican
cuisine, commonly known as "Tico" food"

Herbario
Cuisine: Specializes in Wood-fired, dishes, such, as, ribeye, shrimp-stuffed, avocado, and, fresh, ceviche.

The Best Local Restaurants
Costa Rica has a slogan, 'No Artificial Ingredients'. As the slogan suggests, Costa Rican food is very fresh, using the top local ingredients from farmers markets.

Tayakiry café
Modern and new cafe in the center of La Fortuna. They have a selection of pastries and lots of breakfast food!
Hours: 06:00 am–08:00 pm daily

Chocolate Fusión
Great place for coffee, local chocolates and home made chocolate treats! There are multiple types of coffee and chocolate that you can try and take back home with you.
Hours: 09:00 am–08:00 pm daily

Nómada Coffee
Nice spot for a take away coffee or quick pit stop! It is on the road back towards the villa, and is right next to El Salto rope swing, and on the same road as the waterfall!
Hours: 07:00 am–07:00 pm daily.

North Fields Coffee
Although this is technically a tour, it is right next to Xanadú, and you will for sure get a few coffees!
Hours: 08:00 am–05:30 pm

Red Frog Coffee Roasters
Known for its on-site roasting, traditional Costa Rican cuisine, and an integrated gift shop
Hours: 07:00 am–08:00 pm
Coffee Spots
La Fortuna and the surrounding area is full of coffee and chocolate farms (cafetals), coffee in the villa is sure to be delicious, and most stores are likely to also have excellent coffee.

Tamarindo Chill
At the top of the main strip and closer to Xanadú than the others, Tamarindo Chill is a nice spot for a drink and some light snacks!

Voodoo Bar & Cocktails
Inside of a 'mercadito', or little collection of restaurants, VooDoo Bar is a nice spot for a drink and food, where everyone can choose whatever they like. There is no shortage of selection here!
